Our story

From Atlanta to DC — Built from the Ground Up

DC Pizza was founded in 2013 by Bob Daly and Lisa Lakin — two entrepreneurs who moved to the DC metro area from Atlanta in 1992 and spent decades building successful businesses before opening their first fully independent restaurant.

Before DC Pizza, Bob and Lisa built Maid To Please, a residential cleaning company with locations in Sterling, VA and Rockville, MD. Their path into restaurants began through close friends Pam Felix and Alan Cohen, who opened the first California Tortilla in Bethesda — Bob and Lisa partnered on additional locations in Rockville and Chinatown, which they successfully sold in 2012.

In 2013, they opened DC Pizza — no franchise, no restrictions, just great food made the right way.

Founders & Owners · DC Pizza

Bob and Lisa didn't set out to open a pizza restaurant — they set out to build something they could be proud of. After years in the cleaning business and the restaurant franchise world, they knew exactly what they wanted: a neighborhood spot with no corporate rules, no shortcuts, and no compromises on quality.

The result is DC Pizza — a place where the food is made fresh every day, the staff has been here since the beginning, and every customer feels like a regular.

"We didn't want a franchise. We wanted our pizza, our way, for our neighborhood." — Bob & Lisa
